A loving teenage mum who was reportedly devoted to her six-month-old baby has been murdered apparently by the baby’s jealous teenage father who then dumped her body in waste ground beside a busy road.

The 17-year-old victim, named Alejandra Nahir Alvarez, was found on the patch of waste ground on the 66 national route in the city of San Salvador in the province of Jujuy on Saturday 10th October.

She was reported as missing by her family when she did not return to her home in the Alto Comedor neighbourhood. She had left to go looking for her siblings who were at a nearby square in the evening of Friday 9th October. It is believed that a short while later she was killed.

Her body was found the following day by a motorcyclist.

Felonies Against People And Femicide Specialised Unit Prosecutor Diego Cussel told local media the body was taken to a forensic morgue adding that the body showed signs of a “violent act”, but refused to give any further details.

According to the local newspaper ‘Jujuy al Moment’ the preliminary results show the cause of death was a hypovolemic shock caused by wounds in her abdomen and thorax.

The same report adds Alvarez’s boyfriend and father of her six-month baby, identified as Rodrigo Villanueva, 18, was detained by authorities.

He is suspected of a triple felony murder for malice aforethought, gender-based violence and cohabitation.

The victim’s grandfather spoke with Jujuy al Moment and said: “Alejandra was a wonderful person, a nice girl who was committed to her family. She loved life and her baby.

“This man that often said he loved her so much, now look how he loved her.”

There have been no reports on a trial date for Villanueva or the sentence he faces if found guilty.

Nahir Alvarez’s death marks the fifth femicide victim in 33 days in the Jujuy province alone which is where some of the highest numbers of femicide cases are reported, according to the local press.
