Teen Girl Shoots Two Teachers At School With Crossbow

A teenage girl has shot two teachers at a school with a crossbow before entering classrooms and firing randomly.

The police received information from citizens that an unnamed girl had injured two teachers at one of the local schools in the city of Poltava, the capital of the Poltava region, in central Ukraine, on 6th September at around 10am.

The police identified the girl as a 19-year-old local teen, who has not been named in local reports.

The teenage girl was allegedly trying to kill one of the teachers, according to local news outlet Ostro. One of the bolts went through the unnamed teacher’s hand, while another teacher, also unnamed, suffered unspecified injuries.

The girl also allegedly entered into several classrooms in a row while smoking a cigarette and fired randomly, according to local media outlet Rbk Ukraina. She had reportedly been a student at the school for some time but was no longer a pupil there at the time of the incident.

Responding police officers found the girl to be mentally distressed, with cuts on her hands. She is reportedly being tested for the presence of alcohol and drugs in her blood.

She is being investigated for attempted murder. The teenage girl was detained and questioned by investigators, according to a statement issued by the police. It is currently unclear what her motive was and whether any of the school’s pupils were injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
