This is the moment a teenager on a bicycle is walloped on the head by the trailer of a fast-moving lorry which overturns while trying to avoid him.

The heart-stopping incident happened at a crossroads on Puning Avenue, which is in the city of Puning in China’s southern province of Guangdong, on 22nd November.

Traffic camera footage shows the teenager surnamed Chen, 17, cycling straight through the middle of the crossroads when the articulated lorry driven by Mr Xiao approaches from his left-hand side.

Mr Xiao, 41, swerves to avoid the cycling teen but his lorry loses balance and overturns onto its right side.

The video shows the teenager having stopped in the middle of the junction, and he tries to duck as the trailer flips and hits him on the back of the head, causing him to face-plant the ground.

In the footage, Chen can be seen standing back up but lying down again shortly after, with subsequent video showing him fully conscious but bleeding from the mouth.

Puning police said the boy suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.

Local media reports said he ‘cheated death’.

Lorry driver Mr Xiao is not thought to have been harmed during the crash, which is still being investigated.

The authorities did not say whether either party was suspected of having run a red light before the incident.
