This is the moment a teenage boy punches a female classmate in the face after slapping her friend in a classroom.

The startling scene was recorded by an onlooker at Secondary School Number 8 in the city of Carmen de Pagones in the eastern Argentina province of Buenos Aires and has since been posted online.

In the video, a boy in a blue hoodie, reportedly 13 years old, can be seen arguing with two female students who are sitting in front of him.

Local media report he then asks one of the girls to take off her glasses which she does and then swipes their things off the desk before slapping the girl who had taken off her glasses in the face.

He then moves over to her friend and punches her in the face. Reports state the case is believed to involve bullying and problems at home for the teenage boy.

The headmaster of the school has reportedly offered to change the girls’ courses and schedule after the incident but their parents have now reported the case to the School Council and the police, both of whom are investigating.

It is unclear if the boy has been punished and the investigations are ongoing.

Local media reported that the problem of bullying among students had increased by 33 percent in the last year. According to research from Bullying Sin Fronteras (Bullying Without Borders) 2,974 cases have been reported to the Justice and Education Ministry of Argentina in one year.
