Pic shows: Maria Henselmann A girl who was allegedly groomed by a far-right suspected paedophile and eventually ran off with him has returned home five years later. Maria Brigitte Henselmann disappeared at the age of 13 after telling her family in Freiburg, a city in the south-western German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, that she was going to stay with a friend. According to local media, Maria had met 58-year-old electrician Berhard Haase online and had told him of her troubles at home which he then used to manipulate her into starting a new life with him. Haase, who once was the state treasurer of the far-right party "Die Republikaner" (The Republicans) in North Rhine-Westphalia, met her in an internet chatroom in 2012. Her mother Monika who staged a relentless campaign that included TV appearances to find her daughter said: "Maria announced that she would stay the night at a fiend." Instead of a sleepover at one of her friends, Maria instead reportedly fled to Poland with Haase. Police found his car and a short distance away his abandoned pet dog Simba. That was on 13th July 2013. According to witnesses, Maria and Haase slept during the night in the parked car. No traces of Maria and Haase were found after that as the two seemed to have disappeared. Mother Monika however has now announced that after 1,944 days, her daughter has contacted her over social media from the Northern Italian metropolis of Milan. Monika said: "She sought contact with her family over Facebook and very, very dear friends of our family picked her up last night in Milan." According to local media, the police will question Maria in the next weeks over her disappearance and the role of Haase, against whom an international search warrant is still standing. Police spokesman Dietmar Ernst said: "There is a suspicion of child abduction and severe sexual abuse." It is not known where Haase currently resides and if investigators have new leads on his whereabouts.
