The shocking scene, which is being investigated by the local authorities, was recorded in Piedras Negras in the northern Mexican state of Coahuila. In the footage, the suspect is seen petting two dogs at a garage entrance while also holding a knife. But he then suddenly stabs one of the dogs in the side, and the poor injured animal is seen in distress unable to use its hind legs, and yelping loudly. The man then goes to sit down like nothing happened, and says to the person filming: "It is dead." The video was shared on Twitter where over 706,000 people have viewed the clip and 12,000 netizens shared it. Some social media users identified the cruel man as Gerardo Herrera, who reportedly works for the local electricity authority. The animal rights NGO ‘Protecani’ has reported the incident to police and the suspect could face a prison sentence of six months to six years if found guilty. Meanwhile, Piedras Negras mayor Claudio M. Tres Garza has confirmed that the local authorities will investigate the incident. Netizen ‘Moonadamic’ said: "I wish somebody would stab the sadist who brutally and cowardly killed the dog. Do you really think that this guy deserves to live? What benefit does he offer society?" ‘Alex Rivera Cela’ added: "It is imperative that the local authorities take action. If this idiot, named Gerardo Herrera, badly attacks a dog, he could also do the same to a human."
