Depraved Belgian paedophile Marc Dutroux, 60, was given a life sentence for the kidnap, torture, rape and murder of young girls in the 1990s. Four were murdered and two were found starving in the torture basement of his home in Belgium. Local media reported that the authorities of the maximum security Nivelles Prison are reviewing every two months how to keep Belgium's most infamous prisoner satisfied even though he is getting more demanding by the day. Dutroux currently earns 1 EUR (0.87 GBP) per hour for cleaning up the rubbish other inmates throw out of their cell windows, but now he wants his wage to be doubled. His lawyer Bruno Dehayez also confirmed that he wants workout equipment in his cell as he cannot use the common sports area as the prison guards fear he would be attacked by other inmates. Dehayez said: "Dutroux is getting quite a bit fatty because of the prison food and because he is not allowed to just leave his cell." According to Dehayez the prison authorities have already agreed to give him fitness equipment but are awaiting special permission by the Justice Ministry. Dutroux, who has been locked up for 20 years, has also demanded a twice-monthly haircut. Already in January Dehayez demanded a proper haircut for his client after he complained about having "a repulsive appearance." Prisoners in the Nivelles jail usually cut each other’s hair but none of them are allowed near Dutroux with scissors for fear of them attacking him. The prisoner, who is held in solitary confinement, is not allowed to cut his own hair either as he is considered a suicide risk. Mr Dayez said: "It is disgusting. A prisoner is a prisoner.
