Local media report at least two people were injured in the fight whilst 10 people aged between 26 and 50 years old were arrested.

No further details on the dispute have been reported. The fight took place despite Morocco’s strict coronavirus lockdown which sees those out of their homes requiring a permit.

The US-based Overseas Security Advisory Council reported that in 2019 “violent crimes tend to be committed with edged weapons such as knives and occasionally swords” in Morocco “due to the low availability of firearms”.

It is unclear if those arrested have been charged.

According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, Morocco has suffered 5,219 cases fo COVID-19 with 181 deaths.
