Swiss Cops Confiscate Speeding Brits Flash Motor

A British driver had this silver sports car and his driving license confiscated after being stopped doing twice the speed limit in Switzerland.

The 58-year-old Brit was driving his Nissan GT-R on Saturday morning when he was stopped by cops on the Ofenbergstrasse H28 road in Zernez , a village and a municipality in the Engiadina Bassa/Val Mustair Region in the Swiss canton of Graubuenden.

According to police the man was clocked doing 154 kph (96 mph) in a 80 kph zone (50 mph). 

His license as well as his car was seized on the spot and he was ordered to pay bail of 5000 (3979 GBP) Swiss Francs by prosecutors.

The driver faces a hefty fine, but details of the fine are not yet decided as the prosecutor is currently looking at the case.

The Brit was with a group of other drivers at the time of the incident. One other driver in the group was also reported for traffic violations.

The Nissan GT-R is a high-performance sports car produced by Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan. Prices for the sports car start from 82,000 GBP new.

Police also seized a blue Porsche 911 travelling with the Brit but the nationality of the driver has not been confirmed.

Swiss police in the canton of Graubunden had a clampdown on speeders as well as checks on cars road-worthiness. On Friday evening 138 drivers were checked. Three cars were found to not be road-worthy.
