This is the moment a bungling driver crashes his SUV off an elevated road down a 15-foot retaining wall before landing headfirst on the roof of a private residence below.

The bizarre incident was captured on camera in the county of Xinchang, which is in Shaoxing City in East China’s Zhejiang Province, on 26th November.

The male motorist, whose name has not been given, turns off a road in an apparent attempt to park but suddenly speeds up and crashes through a set of metal railings.

The white SUV then disappears out of frame as the vehicle is driven off the edge and plunges down the side of the retaining wall some 15 feet high.

Subsequent video shows the car having stopped vertically and bumper first on the roof of a private residence below.

The vehicle appears to have smashed through a plastic awning, but reports said no residents were harmed.

The driver himself managed to climb out of the car himself and did not suffer any life-threatening injuries, reports said.

He is believed to have confused his accelerator pedal for the brake, causing the crash which is still being investigated.
