This dramatic footage shows an SUV flipping onto its roof after rear-ending a saloon car that had illegally cut into its path.

The footage from the Changsha-Zhangjiajie Expressway over the city of Changsha, capital of Central China’s Hunan Province, shows the SUV crashing into the back of the black saloon car.

Authorities say the smaller vehicle merged unlawfully onto the motorway by crossing the V-shaped road marking, which denotes lane separation for vehicles entering the expressway via a slip road.

The video shows the SUV unable to slow down before clipping the back of the car, the impact causing the vehicle to flip onto its roof.

The dashcam car in the fast lane then slams into the upside-down SUV, causes it to skid and spin across the motorway on its roof like a tortoise on its back.

The SUV slides to a stop on the opposite end of the motorway, with police saying its occupants survived without serious injuries.

Black saloon car driver Huang, who was not injured, is expected to bear the majority of the blame for the crash, which is still being investigated.
