This is the shocking moment a speeding driver ploughs into a woman and her three dogs on a crossing.

The incident was filmed in the city of Archangelsk in the western Russian region of Archangelsk Oblast, and the footage was later shared on social media where it has been viewed over 120,000 times.

In the footage, a woman is seen walking with three dogs on the crossing behind a family of three.

In that moment, a speeding car enters the frame and ploughs straight into the woman and her pets.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 did not stop after the accident.

Reports said that the unnamed woman, born in 1954, was killed at the scene along with one of her dogs.

The police said that they found the Toyota SUV involved in the incident abandoned in a city area the following night.

They were able to identify and track down the suspected driver later that night, according to the police spokesperson.

The suspect has been detained and could face between five and 12 years in prison if convicted, according to local media.
