This is the heroic moment a middle-aged cyclist shows off his superhuman strength by towing a broken down car along the street using only his pushbike.

The bizarre scenes were recorded by passersby in the Yesilyurt district of Malatya province in the Anatolian region of central Turkey and posted online.

In the video, an unidentified cyclist can be seen working hard to gain momentum on his pushbike with a tow rope pulling a broken down car behind him.

The man appears to momentarily lose his balance and steps down onto the ground but another clip then shows him in full flow towing the car down a busy street.

The man recording from another car laughs as the cyclist makes his way past him along with the broken down car whose driver can be seen inside.

The clips were posted onto social media and widely commented on by netizens such as ‘Enes Aksoy’ who wrote: “Well done man, you are doing a great job!”

And ‘Ulu Bilge’ added: “It looks as if he is preparing for the ‘World’s Strongest Man’ competition.”

Other users said the Malatya province’s famed apricots were to thank for the man’s strength, with ‘Serkan Sarici’ writing: “By the power of apricots!”

It is unclear if the cyclist knew the driver of the car or why the vehicle had broken down.
