This stunning beauty queen has been arrested along with seven others for belonging to a criminal organisation that specialises in kidnappings in Mexico.

The Veracruz State Attorney General’s Office issued a statement saying they detained eight suspects in the city of Huatusco de Chicuellar in the Mexican state of Veracruz on 11th February.

The official report identified the suspects as Luis Antonio, Raul, Maria del Rosario, Ana Martha, Cesar Enrique, Diego, Jossiel, and Laura.

Local media identified the last suspect as Laura Mojica Romero, 25, who won the Miss Oaxaca 2018 beauty contest and was known locally for her modelling and pageant performances, but there have been no official reports confirming the claim.

The stunning model is suspected of belonging to a criminal organisation which specialises in carrying out kidnappings in the states of Oaxaca and Veracruz along with the seven other suspects.

They remain in custody as a judge in Veracruz gave the prosecution two months to conclude their investigations. If convicted, they could each face up to 50 years behind bars.

The arrests were carried by agents from a unit specialised in the fight against kidnappings, but no details were given on the investigation leading up to them.

Mojica Romero also won Miss Earth Oaxaca 2015 and was the main runner-up at International Queen of Coffee 2020 and was the third runner-up at Miss Mexico 2019.
