This gorgeous architect has claimed that her Turkish husband – the son of a luxury hotel owner – tried to strangle her to death with a bathrobe belt.

Can Atay, 36, son of Ertugrul Atay, owner of the luxurious Gezi Hotel Bosphorus located in the north-western Turkish city of Istanbul, and female architect Polen Atay, 29, got married on 22nd June 2019.

However, the happy marriage did not last long and Atay filed a complaint of violence against her husband on 14th July 2020, according to local media.

The Turkish news site Gunboyu Gazetesi quoted the architect as saying: “My husband started to behave violently towards me four days after the wedding.

“His aggressive behaviour was due to alcohol and drugs. He beat me when I said I wanted to leave him. He tried to strangle me with a bathrobe belt.”

Polen claimed that she lost consciousness and would have been killed if the building’s security guard had not intervened.

She also said that she had to be treated in intensive care after the alleged attack.

However, Can Atay said: “These allegations are completely unfounded. My family and I are astounded at the situation we find ourselves in. We have also filed a libel case against Polen Atay.”

According to local media, the court decided that Polen would not have made up the claims of violence for two months without foundation and the prosecution team is asking for a four-year jail term for the defendant.
