This is the bizarre moment a group of uni students stage a mass brawl only to begin dishing out hugs and cake to the cops who are called to arrest them.

The incident happened at Sakarya University in the Sakarya Province of Turkey.

In the video, the students can be seen in the canteen when they begin ‘brawling’, throwing fake punches and even appearing to chokeslam each other to the floor.

Onlookers in on the joke can be heard laughing and two police officers then run to the scene to separate the apparent fight.

When the cops arrive the students instantly stop pretending to fight and begin applauding the officers.

The pranksters hug the officers and even appear to have bought them a cake complete with candles to thank them for their service.

The unusual stunt was organised by students from the Tourism Faculty for the country’s ‘police week’, an annual event where members of the public thank the country’s controversial police force for their service.

Turkish Police are often called to quash protests and stand accused of human rights abuses according to international rights groups including Amnesty and Human Rights Watch.

The Turkish Police Corps were celebrating the 174th anniversary of their founding when the video was shot.

Netizens loved the students’ actions, with ‘Taner Sahinoglu’ commenting: “This gesture of the students is very meaningful and good motivation for our police officers.”

While ‘Recep Talha Yildiz’ simply wrote: “Well done!”
