This is the moment a brave medical student saves a bleeding woman whose throat was slit during a fight at a house party by covering her artery with his fingers.
Local media report the startling incident took place in a block of flats in the city of Barnaul in south-central Russia’s Altai Krai region when a fight erupted during a house party.
Reports state a man, whose name was not reported, allegedly cut an unnamed woman’s throat with a knife and onlookers began screaming for help.
Medical student Davlat Sharipov, 22, was visiting his cousin in the same block of flats and reportedly ran to the scene.
He performed first aid and managed to stop the bleeding. In the video, he can be seen holding the woman’s throat as she lies on the floor.
There is blood all over the rug the woman is lying on and another view shows the large cut across her throat.
Sharipov reportedly stayed with the woman for 10 minutes before an ambulance arrived and took her to hospital.
Reports state the medical student saved the woman’s life with his quick-thinking, covering the woman’s wound with his fingers.
He told reporters: “They are having parties on a regular basis. This is why I initially tried asking them through the door (without opening it) what was going on. The man was shouting that a person was dying. That is when I ran to help them out.
“The most important thing was to stop the bleeding. First I was trying to do that with a cloth but it got soaked really fast and I started using the other one.”
Sharipov, who plans on becoming a dentist after graduating, managed to stop the bleeding after covering the artery with his fingers.
“I was sitting by her side until the ambulance has arrived.”
He says he was initially shocked by the sight of the woman and added that it took him a while to recover after the incident.
He has been hailed as a hero online.
Netizen ‘Anna’ said: “Good reactions, he managed to stay as cool as cucumber in this situation. Good job and god bless.”
While another one named ‘Nata’ added: “Great job and I think he has chosen his career path right.”
