This is the moment a woman is sent crashing to the ground by gale-force winds blowing her backwards on an icy pavement.

The startling weather conditions were recorded in the northern Russian city of Norilsk in Krasnoyarsk Krai where strong winds caused chaos on the streets.

In the video, a woman can be seen walking alongside a block of flats, using the wall to protect herself from the strong winds.

However, when she takes a step to reach the door to the block she is buffeted by the winds and sent backpedalling on the icy pavement before crashing to the ground.

An onlooking then begins running down the road towards the woman, helping her to her feet and putting his arm around her to lead her into the apartment block.

A girl in the background can be heard saying: “Well done! That is a very good man.”

Road signs can be seen on the ground in the clip, and one can be seen being blown over by the winds which reportedly hit the city after a period of warm weather. The winds were joined by a cold snap which has visibly covered the streets in ice making it even more difficult to stay upright.

Reports state winds reached 108kph (67mph) and the storm warning, first issued on 1st March, has now been removed.
