This is the moment a stray dog unties a pet pooch tethered to a fence before the the two new pals set off for a stroll together.

The heartwarming scenes were recorded by an onlooker in the southern city of Novosibirsk in the Oblast region of the same name and later posted onto social media.

In the clip, a mongrel stray dog can be seen using its mouth to pull at the leash which has been used to tie a pet dog up to a fence.

The stray pulls at the leash with its mouth before releasing the pet pooch. The pet, reportedly a purebred Staffordshire Terrier, appears to want to stay where it is the stray then pulls its leash with its mouth, taking its new friend for a walk.

The pair reportedly did not get very far after the purebred’s owner spotted them and stopped them from walking away.

Netizens loved the clip, with one user writing: “Dogs are better than people.”

And another wrote: “The madness of a cute video.”

Novosibirsk is the third-most populous city in Russia after Moscow and St Petersburg and is the most populous city in Asian Russia.
