Prosecutors in the case against a man accused of beating his seven-year-old stepson to death with a stick want him jailed for life along with the boy’s mother after she did nothing to stop him, or help her critically injured son afterwards.

The requests were presented at the Court of Naples in the Italian city of the same name after almost four hours of indictment.

Italian-Tunisian defendant Tony Essobti Badre, 25, is accused of beating his partner’s son Giuseppe D. to death with a stick on 27th January 2019.

He also allegedly badly beat the boy’s three-year-old sister.

Little Giuseppe D. died of his injuries in hospital.

Prosecutors Paola Izzo and Fabio Sozio also want a life sentence for the boy’s mother Valentina Casa, the suspect’s partner, for failing to help the seven-year-old boy.

She was present on the night in question, as she was on previous occasions, and reportedly did nothing to help her two young children during the attack.

The mother is also accused of leaving her dying son unattended for a long period before deciding to call the emergency services.

Neighbours said that they were aware of the abuse and that Casa covered for her partner’s alleged violence many times in the past.

Badre is accused of the voluntary murder of Giuseppe, the attempted murder of his younger sister, and the mistreatment of the family aggravated by cruelty.
