This is the awkward moment Lebanese pop star Haifa Wehbe recoils and takes a step back as a besuited starstruck fan drops to one knee on stage and pops the question.

The incident was filmed during Wehbe’s latest concert in Lebanon and the footage has been widely shared on social media.

In the clip, the curvy pop star is seen being pulled by the arm by a bodyguard after finishing her vocal part to a song.

Reports said the bodyguard was informing Wehbe that an admirer wanted to take to the stage to meet her.

In the next scene, a suited man with a pony tail is seen being escorted up some steps to the stage where the buxom singer is waiting.

They share a tender embrace as audience members cheer and then exchange a few words.

Using the microphone, Wehbe tries to make smalltalk with the well-dressed fan and asks him his name. When he fails to answer, she asks “did you forget your name?”

When the young man suddenly drops to one knee and proffers something under the singer’s nose, she apparently recoils and takes a step back.

Still keeping a safe distance from the starstruck fan, she thanks him and politely asks him to leave the stage.

However, not willing to cease his declaration of love for the singer, he attempts to take the mic but is prevented from addressing the crowd by security staff.

In the 1990s, Wehbe married her cousin Nasr Fayyad when she was 18 and travelled with him to Nigeria where he worked. During her pregnancy with her only child, she returned to Lebanon and separated from Fayyad.

She married Egyptian businessman Ahmed Abou Hashima in April 2009 in Beirut. Among the guests at the wedding party were US stars Anastacia, Carmen Electra and Sean Combs. The couple split in November 2012.
