Much-loved characters from the Star Wars franchise such as Darth Vader have visited the children of French health workers to give them a special treat at school.

The force was strong among students at the Saverne Spring School in the department of Bas-Rhin in the north-eastern French region of Grand Est on 28th April following the surprise visit.

Many children of health workers in France have been attending classes since mid-March despite much of the country being on lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The idea to send many much-loved characters from ‘Star Wars’ came from police commander Eric Dumas who contacted the ‘68th Imperial’ group of enthusiasts.

The ‘Star Wars’ buffs often take part in visits to hospitals or at charity events to entertain the kids, according to reports.

Group president Johann Hass told local media: “We didn’t expect to be contacted by the local police, but we were very excited about it.

“I had no problems convincing everyone to take part. We hadn’t seen each other in six weeks.

“Fourteen members on a weekday afternoon is pretty good, especially as it was for a good cause.”

According to reports, members of the 68th Imperial dressed up as Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Grand Moff Tarkin, Kylo Ren and around a dozen storm troopers.
