Stalker Detective Used Confidential Police Data To Spy On Newly Divorced Stunning Model

A detective has been arrested for using confidential police data to spy on a newly-divorced stunning model who was once married to the eccentric property tycoon Richard Lugner.

The incident took place in the Austrian capital Vienna, with an unnamed criminal investigation officer, 48, arrested for stalking stunning model Catherine ‘Cathy’ Lugner, 31, formerly known as Cathy Schmitz before she married her now ex-husband Richard Lugner, according to Austrian newspaper Heute.

The detective is said to have requested confidential data about Cathy Lugner and after repeated “espionage attacks”, which the suspect claims were investigations based on anonymous information, he was taken away in handcuffs from his Vienna office in front of his colleagues.

The detective appeared in court on Tuesday (9th November) and claimed: “I had an official tip that I followed.”

His lawyer Marcus Januschke claims the entire procedure is a plot against his client, who he described as a “policeman with body and soul”.

But the judge was not convinced, as the defendant is also said to have divulged top-secret information, including information pertaining to an arrest warrant for an unnamed businessman from Salzburg in an unrelated matter.

The defendant is also alleged to have entered and searched someone’s flat without authorisation, leading to them believing that they had suffered a break-in.

The public prosecutor argued: “The police officer abused his office, deliberately violated data rights like those of Mrs Lugner.”

The trial is set last several days with a verdict due on 16th November.
