This is the stomach-churning moment a young diner shows off what he says is a cockroach egg sac he found when finishing the leftovers in his wife’s meal.

The incident was filmed at a Mamak food stall in the district of Sepang in the western Malaysian state of Selangor, and the footage was shared on Facebook by netizen ‘Jamal Firdaus’ where it has been viewed over 130,000 times.

According to the diner, he was helping his wife finish her fried rice when he spotted the cockroach egg sac.

He wrote on social media: “I can’t deny, I like the fried chicken at this place, but this time I didn’t order any food. I just accompanied my wife.

“I was helping her finish the rest of her food and then suddenly I saw a cockroach egg sac. And how I despise cockroaches!”

He added: “They [restaurant staff] tried to tell me it was a red bean. It’s a cockroach egg!”

As well as the images of the alleged creepy-crawly egg on his plate, the netizen also posted images of other cockroach egg sacs he found on the internet.

He warned other diners: “For anyone eating here or anywhere else, remember to always check your food first.

“Be careful if you are eating out at a Mamak restaurant. It doesn’t matter where, just make sure there are no unwanted items in your food.

“Today it’s a cockroach egg, tomorrow its baby or adult cockroaches,” he warned.

Local media contacted the food stall and was told by the manager that they do not know how the egg sac got into the food. No further explanation was given.
