This is the moment a pedestrian running across a road on a zebra crossing is hit at speed by a Russian Lada car that then flips over and takes out a billboard.

The incident was filmed by a motorist’s dash cam in the north-western Russian city of Saint Petersburg and was later shared on social media where it has been viewed over 318,000 times.

In the dash cam footage, a male pedestrian is seen running on the crossing when the traffic lights are green for motorists.

The filming driver is heard sounding the horn as they slow down, however a speeding Lada driver fails to react and hits the man, sending him crashing to the ground.

The Lada then hits the kerb and flips over several metres away.

At the end of the clip, the pedestrian is seen barely moving as the heavily-damaged Lada eventually rolls back onto its four wheels.

According to eyewitness Vladislav Anisimov, the man was unresponsive and an ambulance was called to take him to hospital.

There have been no further updates on his condition or whether the Lada driver was injured when the vehicle flipped over.

Although the pedestrian tried to cross on a red light, reports said that the Lada driver was exceeding the 40kph (25 mph) speed limit in the area.

It is unclear whether the local authorities are investigating the accident.
