Speeding Russian Bear Captured Dashing Down Road By CCTV Camera

A traffic camera has captured this unusual image of an escaped bear on the run after breaking out of its cage at a golf club.

Eyewitnesses had already called the police to report seeing a wandering bear, and they later discovered it was most probably the one that had escaped from a private golf club in the city of Mytishchi in Russia’s Moscow Oblast.

Cops then worked out that the footage they were alerted to, taken from a roadside camera, probably showed the escaped bear, which, at the time, was moving at a fast pace after escaping from its cage.

The image from the camera, which was set up to monitor road traffic, then caused concern among local residents after it was shared on social networks.

According to the news website RIA Novosti, an emergency services spokesperson confirmed: “Searches are underway for a bear that escaped from the golf club.”

They described the large-looking bear as only being medium-sized, and said it was being actively sought by rescuers, officers, veterinarians and hunters.

When caught, the bear is likely to be captured alive and will not be sent back to the golf club. Instead it will be returned to a sanctuary, where it can live a more natural life.

It is not yet known exactly where it currently is, but it is believed it may be in a wooded area near the club it had earlier escaped from.

The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
