Speeding Car Sends Pedestrian Flying

This is the shocking moment a man rushing to cross a road is hit by a car that also appears to be in a rush, leaving the pedestrian seriously injured.

The incident happened in the Buca district of Izmir province, in Turkey in the early hours of the morning. Local media have said the driver was speeding.

In the footage, the pedestrian is seen running from one side of the street to the other when he is hit by the car.

The driver of the car, identified only as 24-year-old Emre K., was travelling along Dogus Street in the Buca district when he hit a pedestrian. 

The force of the blow smashed the man’s body down the road where he landed several metres away and was left lying seriously injured. 

Eyewitnesses who saw what happened raised the alarm and police and an ambulance were on the scene, with medics taking the injured man to the nearby Buca Seyfi Demirsoy Hospital. 

The man was reportedly seriously injured and if fighting for his life in hospital. 

The police investigation is ongoing.

Eyewitness Sezer Tabak told local media: “I was smoking a cigarette in front of my door, at that moment a pedestrian crossed the road without checking his left and his right side and he got hit by the car.”
