Speeding Car Narrowly Misses Students And Smashes Through Large University Gate In Wuhan

This is the moment a speeding car comes off the road and smashes through a large university gate, narrowly missing students on the pavement.

The incident took place at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, the city internationally known for being an early epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic, and also the capital of China’s Hubei Province.

In the footage, the car is seen coming off the street and hitting some plastic cones before narrowly missing students walking on the pavement, and finally smashing through a large metal gate that reportedly leads to the university’s history museum.

It then hits some flowerbeds before coming to a stop some 50 metres further along. The car was left severely damaged, with most of the front almost smashed off.

No students were injured in the incident, according to the University, however, the driver was injured. His identity has not been revealed but according to the images, the driver appears to have been an elderly man.

It is currently unclear what caused the incident and the police have opened an investigation.
