A Romanian couple have been jailed for murder after their son told his nursery school teacher that his dad had cut off a man’s willy and given it to the family dog ‘Bobby’ to eat.
The worried teacher raised the alarm with police, and a shocked police officer then discovered the man’s head and later his body, which had also been partially eaten by animals.
Police were then quick to tie in the dead body with the case of a missing 40-year-old man who had vanished some days earlier on 17th July. The man, who was not named, was a new father whose wife had just given birth to a baby girl, and he reportedly went out to celebrate.
But in fact, after getting drunk he had gone round to see an old flame, identified as Irina Ana Vasile, and demanded to know why she had not been to see him lately for sex.
The woman, who at the time had been drinking with her partner Traian Puscas and another friend, was identified as Ioan Luca, at the property all three shared in Alunish village in northern Romania’s Bistrita-Nasaud County.
The couple also had three children in the property, including the boy aged 5 who was later to reveal what had happened to his teacher.
In the indictment, it stated that the murder took place “most probably, on 17th July 2017, when the victim came to the defendant’s house where he was drinking alcohol together with his partner and a friend.
“The victim wanted to know why the woman had not met him for sex lately. Traian Puscas had then become aggressive and pointed out that he was in a relationship with the woman for a long time. A war of words then broke out which turned into physical violence.”
The prosecutors claim that the victim was hit in the face by the two men who used both fists and legs, whilst the woman hit him with a piece of wood on the head. They said that because the victim was drunk, he was unable to properly defend himself even when his head was being banged against the wall.
After venting their anger, they had all gone to bed, and in the morning when they woke up and discovered he was dead.
The indictment continued: “One of the men chopped up the victim’s body with a chainsaw into several pieces. This included severing his hands, penis and head. The penis and the hands were given to the dog to eat. They then covered the victim’s corpse with a blanket and dumped it 900 metres (3,000 feet) away from the house.”
The court heard that the couple had then gone abroad to work in Spain, and were arrested when they returned home for a break after his son had told police about his dad cutting off the man’s willy and feeding it to the dog. He said that after feeding the willy and the hands to the dog called Bobby, they had dumped the rest of the body in a small stream nearby.
The court heard that the trio had considered trying to burn the body, but because the village was in a remote area and there were lots of wild animals around, they expected that the corpse would be quickly eaten. They had also thought that it would be hard to bury it because it was rugged terrain, and also felt that a fire might arouse suspicion from curious neighbours.
They had also disposed of a bloodstained bed where the murder had happened, and washed away all the bloodstains elsewhere on the property, including the mess caused by using the chainsaw, but had not reckoned on the little boy witnessing what had happened and telling his teacher.
A court in Cluj has now jailed Traian Puscas for 15 years and eight months, Irina Ana Vasile for 13 years, and Ioan Luca for 14 years and 11 months.
