A Palestinian man scaled a hospital wall everyday to sit outside his mother’s window and spend time with her shortly before she died.
The incident took place in Hebron, a Palestinian city in the southern West Bank, when Jihad Al-Suwaiti, 30, was spotted scaling the hospital wall every day while his mother received care there.
A hospital official said: “He climbed the pipeline on the building to get up to a spot to see his mother, who was on the second floor.
“He spent most of his days there, observing his mother’s condition from outside the window.
“He only came down after he was convinced that his mother had fallen asleep.”
Al-Suwaiti was instructed not to climb the building exterior for safety reasons, but refused to listen and continued to sit outside his 73-year-old mother’s window ledge in a daily basis.
Rasmi Suwaiti, who was battling leukaemia prior to being diagnosed with COVID-19 a few weeks ago, spent five days in the hospital before passing away, according to news site Says.
Al-Suwaiti’s brother said: “He was very close to our mother, especially since our dad died 15 years ago.”
He even tried to enter his mother’s hospital room when he learned that her condition was worsening, according to reports.
On 16th July, he climbed the wall for the last time to say goodbye to his mum through the window of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
His brother said: “Our mother was also battling leukaemia prior to being diagnosed with COVID-19 a few weeks ago. When Jihad was informed about our mother’s death, he was angry and in shock.”
He added: “Now he seems to have accepted the fact.”
