A son has been arrested for keeping his dead father’s body in his home for six months so he could bring it back to life using black magic.

The startling incident happened in the Giridih district of India’s Jharkhand state with the suspect, named in reports as Prashant Kumar Sinha, being arrested at his home.

Local media report police had been called to the suspect’s home by neighbours after he got into a heated argument with his mother and sister and allegedly began beating them.

The neighbours reportedly ran to Sinha’s home to stop the beating which they could hear and found the body of the suspect’s father, Vishwanath Prasad, who was 75 years old, in one of the rooms.

Prasad had reportedly died around April or May this year after a long battle with an undisclosed illness and his son had preserved his body using ice and a mixture of chemicals to stop the corpse from smelling.

The police were called and the suspect was arrested. His mother, named in reports as Anu Kumari Sinha along with his siter, Mamta Kumari, said the suspect preserved his father’s body as he thought he bring his dad back to life.

Reports suggest the suspect planned to use black magic to resurrect his dead father.

It is unclear if the suspect has been charged and the investigation is ongoing.
