This footage shows a boy crying for help while clutching his bleeding head after his father allegedly threw a phone at him and then threatened him with a meat cleaver for being cheeky.

Footage of the shocking attempt at discipline was recorded by the father, Mr Liu, who posted the clip online following the incident on 17th November.

Authorities in the city of Zhaotong, which is in south-western China’s Yunnan Province, said Mr Liu admitted to throwing the mobile phone, which belongs to his wife, at his son.

The parent said the boy had stayed out all night the day before, and then took his mother’s phone without her permission.

While lecturing his son, Mr Liu lost his temper when his son argued back, and, “in a moment of anger”, threw the phone at his head, causing him to bleed.

In the video filmed by the parent, the boy squats down on the floor and repeatedly cries “help!” as his blood drips on the tiles.

But Mr Liu, who also films his meat cleaver and reportedly threatens the boy with it, appears unsympathetic.

As the video ends, he kicks the broken phone at the boy as he continues to cry.

This happens in front of Mr Liu’s younger child who is seen sitting quietly to one side, the footage shows.

The police said Mr Liu’s son was not seriously injured.

The parent has “expressed remorse” and was not arrested, but they would “deal with the case accordingly”, the authorities added.
