These images show the drive-in circus which has opened in Germany where families can enjoy stunts and performances from the socially-distanced safety of their cars.

The Paletti circus for children and teenagers in Mannheim in the southern German state of Baden-Wurttemberg reportedly saw around 1,000 visitors attend its first drive-thru extravaganza.

Circus director Tilo Bender told local media: “We are extremely satisfied [with the turnout].”

Set in a large car park, families were treated to various attractions from the safety of their vehicles as clowns, jugglers and unicyclists performed stunts around them.

As cars made their way around the assigned route, visitors also saw shows from tightrope walkers and trapeze artists, according to local media.

Before the drive-in circus opened, Bender said: “There will be a lot of fun and amazement to the left and right of your vehicles.”

The Paletti circus, which has around 500 members, organised the showcase with the Mannheim marketing board, according to local media.

At the end of last month, a similar drive-in circus reportedly opened in the city of Recklinghausen in the western German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

According to local media, visitors watched the circus performances from their cars and key events were also displayed on a large screen.
