This is the bizarre moment a council official uses a snow plough in a failed bid clear a waterlogged road and only ends up soaking passengers waiting at a nearby bus stop instead.

The incident was filmed in the city of Saransk in the south-western Russian republic of Mordovia and the footage was later shared on social media where it has been viewed 80,000 times.

In the footage, a tractor is seen approaching a waterlogged roadside and using its loader bucket to clear the area.

The tractor driver then reverses the vehicle and uses the bucket to clear further water from the road.

It is not known how many passes the tractor carried out, but local media said several passengers at a nearby bus stop were soaked by the driver’s efforts.

Netizen ‘Galiza Alukaeva’ said: ‘There is no snow there, but I suppose the guy has to do something while on duty.”

‘Andrey Ustinos’ commented: “He’s making waves so I guess he wants to visit the seaside.”

‘Roman Yarilov’ wrote: “If they had designed and built the road properly, they wouldn’t need to stage these stupid scenes now!”
