SNOW JOKE: Endangered Giraffe Clearly Enjoys Munching On Snow In Hilarious Videos

Despite the preference for warmer temperatures this giraffe was clearly enjoying the arrival of the snow after using his impressive lips to shovel mouthfuls at a Japanese zoo.

The footage was shot at the municipal-owned Asahiyama Zoo, which is located in the city of Asahikawa, on the Japanese island of Hokkaido.

The male giraffe named Genki is 22 years old, and no stranger to being in the limelight, including one incident in 2017 when he got his own head stuck between a fake tree branch and a fake leaf.

In the end, it took keepers almost 20 minutes to free him after they dismantled the fake ornament to allow him to escape.

Genki is a reticulated giraffe, native to the Horn of Africa, where they rarely see snow in the wild. They are regarded as endangered, with a little over 8,000 individuals living in the wild.

In the wild, they mainly live on leaves and shrubs, and spend most of the day feeding, although clearly when they can get it, they seem to enjoy snow.

In terms of giraffe years, they can live up to 25 years making Genki rather elderly.
