A hit DJ has died in hospital after a gust of wind toppled a piece of stage equipment onto him, crushing his spine, as he was setting up for a gig.

Osnir Silvino dos Santos Mafra – better known as Oz Mafra in his native Brazil – was declared dead in Santa Casa de Santos, Sao Paulo State, in the early hours of 10th November.
He was taken to the hospital in Santos on the night of 29th October after he was injured by a lighting rig falling from a gantry during a storm in nearby Sao Vicente.
A friend who chose to remain anonymous told how he suffered a spinal cord injury when he was hit by the falling gear before the Halloween party.

The DJ’s friend said he was admitted to the intensive care unit and was being seen by a neurosurgeon.
She told local media that negligence may have played a part in his death.
She explained: “The structure that fell on top of him was the stage lighting, which should have been supported by steel cables, which didn’t happen.
“At least that’s what we saw in the video and it’s very clear.”

In a statement, Rocket Sea Club said it deeply regretted Osnir’s death and would remain closed until today (11th November).
Civil Police reported that they were investigating the case, which has been registered as ‘bodily injury’.
A song by Oz Mafra with Benny Bubblez titled ‘La Trompeta (Original Mix)’ has racked up 11,000 views on YouTube since being posted eight years ago.
