Wimbledon champion Simona Halep has parted ways with her coach just four months after winning the title.

Romanian superstar Halep, 28, has reportedly parted ways with her coach Daniel Dobre just four months after winning her first Wimbledon title in July.

Dobre had been working with the world-number-four since 2015 and became a full-time member of her team in 2019, along with Australian coach Darren Cahill.

However, Halep has now announced that Dobre will leave her team and wrote on social media: “Daniel, I want to thank you for everything you did for me this year. In fact, for the many years you have been with me. For your hard work, patience and faith in me.

“We signed off the collaboration with the trophy won at Wimbledon, but also with a great friendship. I couldn’t ask for more than that. I wish you all the best and who knows what we’ll face in the future, maybe a new chapter for us.”

Halep will only be coached by Cahill in 2020, and the Australia coach has helped her to second Grand Slam this year after she beat Sloane Stephens in the Roland Garros final last year.

Halep beat Serena Williams 6-2 6-2 at the All-England Club in July but she failed to reach the semi-finals at the WTA Finals held in Shenzhen China earlier this month.
