Paris Saint-Germain defender and team captain Thiago Silva is out of action for three weeks and will miss the second leg match against Borussia Dortmund in the Champion’s League.

Injured in the match that saw Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) narrowly beat Bordeaux (4-3), the 35-year-old captain is suffering from an injury to his femoral biceps on his right thigh, “depending on his clinical evolution”.

PSG made the announcement in a statement published on their website.

The statement also said that Ander Herrera is suffering from an injury to his left quadriceps and will be out of action for 6 to 8 weeks.

To these two absences, one can add Marco Verratti and Thomas Meunier, who have both been suspended.

The revelation comes after manager Thomas Tuchel refused to blame Neymar for being shown a red card in the final minutes of the match against Bordeaux last Sunday.

The 28-year-old had a heated exchange with referee Willy Delajod while leaving the pitch.

Tuchel said: “We have to talk about the whole situation. He is nervous and reacts. It’s human. He shouldn’t, but it’s human. And the Bordeaux player doesn’t even get a yellow card.”

PSG lost their first encounter with Dortmund 2-1.

Neymar, as a result of being giving a red card, will miss at least one match, and maybe more. The decision will be made known on Wednesday evening.
