This footage shows a knife-wielding man running and lunging at a cop who shot him before the officer eventually guns him down in a hail of bullets.

The incident was filmed by an unnamed female witness took place in the city of San Luis Rio Colorado in the state of Sonora in north-western Mexico.

The unnamed cop attended the scene after receiving a domestic violence call when a 43-year-old suspect, named only as Martin, who appeared to be drunk or drugged, allegedly began walking towards him with a blade according to local media.

In the video, the suspect can be seen walking towards the cop with what appears to be knife in his hand. The police officer has his gun drawn and a woman can be heard shouting “shoot him, shoot him, shoot him in one of his legs!”.

The cop then appears to open fire on the suspect with nine shots being heard.

Women can then be heard screaming and the suspect can be seen still walking towards the cop bleeding from his chest before he drops to the ground. The police officer can be seen holding his face.

Local media report the suspect was rushed to a nearby hospital but died on the way.

The unnamed cop was also attended for the injuries to his face allegedly caused by the suspect with the knife.

The woman who reported the suspect said that the aggressor was her boyfriend who allegedly constantly beat her, and had reportedly threatened her with death using the same knife.

It is not clear whether an investigation has been opened.
