This is the moment a man gets fatally shot by a police officer after engaging in a shoot-out while attempting to escape arrest.

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), who released a video of the incident yesterday, September 5th, are currently investigating the case to determine if the force used by the officer was reasonable.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Lino Soltero was being pursued by Hollenbeck Division patrol officers in the area of Eastern Avenue and Whiteside Street, after being spotted driving the dark-coloured sedan without any license plates.

Officers followed the car into a parking lot to conduct a traffic stop, where the front passenger had exited armed with a firearm. They can then be seen pursuing Soltero on foot into a residential neighbourhood, ordering him to stop and to drop the gun.

Instead, Soltero can be seen pointing the firearm in the officers’ direction, which resulted in the officers shooting at him. He was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The incident occurred in Los Angeles, California on 22nd July 2022 around 6:50 pm.

No officers were reported to be injured during this incident.

The investigation is still ongoing.
