This shocking video shows how a young musician tries to run away from his executors, but he is shot to the ground, with the gunman continuing to riddle his dead body with bullets.

Renato Santos Evangelista, 23, had been considered a missing person for eight days after he disappeared from the district of Vila de Abrantes in the city of Camacari in the north-eastern Brazilian state of Bahia on Sunday, 21st November, after playing a gig.

However, any hope that the percussionist would return home safe and sound evaporated after a video apparently showing his execution in an area of woodland went viral.

The video shows the young man being forced to kneel before he tries to run away from his handgun-wielding captors. However, he is shot in the back and then the head several times.

Both the victim’s relatives and the Civil Police (Brazil’s investigative police force) have since confirmed that the man seen being shot in the footage was indeed Renato.

The police have also said that the young man’s alleged executors have been identified and are being searched for. Despite footage of the alleged crime, the victim’s body had not yet been found at the time of reporting.

The victim’s sister Kelly Evangelista told BA Meio Dia: “My mother is very shaken. She won’t be able to watch that video.”

Kelly told the programme that Renato’s bandmates told her he had been taken away by two armed men linked to drug trafficking.

The search for the suspects is ongoing.
