This is the Lamborghini Gallardo which was wrecked when the driver reportedly mounted the pavement and hit a wall before ditching the supercar – which has Norwegian plates – on a street corner in Mexico.

The Lamborghini, which is valued at between four and five million MXN (166,380 GBP and 208,000 GBP), was crashed and abandoned on the corner of Yucatan and Zacatecas Streets in the district of Roma in the municipality of Cuauhtemoc located in the central Mexican capital Mexico City, according to local media.

The unknown driver reportedly lost control and mounted the pavement, wrecking the front of the supercar when it crashed into a low wall.

The driver then abandoned the vehicle and the authorities towed the wreckage away.

According to local media, the Lamborghini suffered extensive damage to the front wheels, suspension, bonnet and engine.

It was reportedly registered to a motorist named Jose Jimenez N. with permission to drive the supercar without plates for a one-month period.

However, local reporter Carlos Jimenez claims the Lamborghini had previously been stolen by two armed men in the Mexican state of Jalisco.

But local media said that no one has reported the vehicle’s theft to the authorities yet.

Eyewitnesses who saw the driver abandoning the crashed supercar said that he was around 30 years old.

The police have confirmed that they are investigating the matter. It is unclear why the car has Norwegian licence plates.
