This is the shocking moment a Mexican wrestler violently throws a five-year-old boy hard against the tarmac when the youngster tries to hug him at an outdoor freestyle wrestling event.
The incident was filmed at an organised Lucha libre event in the neighbourhood of Aviacion Civil in the Mexican capital Mexico City on 21st May. Lucha libre, which literally means freestyle wrestling, is the term used in Mexico for professional wrestling.
The mayor’s office organised the event in the neighbourhood and the young lad was taken to see it by his grandmother.
However, when the boy, name not disclosed, went to hug Einar Dharius, a newcomer on the scene nicknamed ‘El Vikingo’ (‘The Viking’), he was violently thrown to the ground, as can be seen in the video.
The wrestler appears to have been sitting on the ground watching an event involving female wrestlers when the boy tried to hug him from behind and he lost his temper.
Several people witnessed the incident and began to complain, leading to a public gathering where dozens of angry residents confronted Dharius in the street.
As a result, the police arrived quickly on the scene, and the wrestler was arrested and taken to the public prosecutor’s office for the borough of Venustiano Carranza, where charges were filed.
Meanwhile, the youngster was taken to a nearby medical centre for treatment, however, it is unclear if he was injured and there have been no further updates on his condition.
In the footage, at the end of a bout in the outdoor ring, the camera pans to a wrestler sitting on the ground with a boy hugging the back of his neck.
The stocky wrestler jumps to his feet and forces the boy to the ground by his arm.
The luchador, which is the term used for a professional Mexican wrestling performer, then launches the lad across the ground where he hits his head on the tarmac and lies motionless.
Meanwhile, the wrestler angrily walks off with a crowd of angry witnesses following after him.
The investigation is ongoing.
