Shock Moment Man And Granddaughter, 3, Hit By Speeding Driver On Zebra Crossing

This is the shocking moment a grandfather carrying his three-year-old granddaughter in his arms is hit by a speeding car on a zebra crossing and sent flying into the air.

The incident was filmed by a CCTV camera on Avenida Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the municipality of Maringa in the southern Brazilian state of Parana on the afternoon of 4th September.

In the footage, the man is seen patiently waiting in the central reservation to cross the road while holding his young granddaughter in his arms.

He waits for several vehicles to pass before deciding it is safe to venture across the road when he sees the car in the first lane coming to a stop.

However, he apparently fails to see the car seemingly travelling very fast in the second lane as he walks over the zebra crossing.

The pair are thrown into the air upon impact and several onlookers rush to their aid as the speeding driver continues along the road before breaking and coming to a stop much further down.

Some reports suggest that the driver had then driven off while others say it was not known whether he had returned to provide assistance.

The local traffic police have not yet started investigating as they are waiting for a complaint to be filed by the victim.

Both the grandfather and the young girl are being treated in hospital for multiple injuries.

The man has undergone surgery for a broken leg, however, there have been no further updates on the girl’s injuries and their current condition.
