This is the shocking moment a toddler stands on a narrow ledge overlooking a sheer drop outside his gran’s high-rise apartment.

The incident was filmed at an apartment block in the city of Campo Grande in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul at around 4pm on 12th November.

A local resident filmed the two-year-old boy standing on the high-rise ledge and the footage has been widely shared on social media.

In the video, the young lad is seen standing on the ledge outside the apartment, apparently trying to slide open a door to get back inside.

The cameraperson then zooms out, showing the boy to be standing on a ledge about halfway up the apartment block.

The authorities were informed about the incident and police officers visited the scene, confirming with building officials that it took place at around 4pm on Friday and that the boy got back inside his home and was unharmed.

According to the news site G1, the child’s parents were shocked when the police told them that he had got out onto the ledge.

According to the news site Metropoles, the child was staying with his father, who took the boy to his grandmother’s apartment, where the incident took place.

As she is elderly with impaired vision, it is likely that the boy’s grandmother did not see him opening the door and venturing onto the ledge.

The boy was able to open a faulty security screen to venture outside, and officers told the family to repair it.
