Shark Aquadrone Cleans Litter From The Sea

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA- This is the moment an autonomous aquadrone is seen cleaning up the water surface in a harbor, removing plastics, metal waste, and other floating debris. The WasteShark aquadrone was caught cleaning the waters near Sydney’s Cockle Bay Wharf in Australia and the footage was shared by the Government of New South Wales (NSW) on the 14th of June. Video shows a ‘new species of shark’ lurking in the waters while ‘feasting on a diet’ of plastics, metal waste, and other floating rubbish. The 1.5-meter aquadrone, WasteShark, which cleans litter from the sea was introduced to Australian waters for the first time on 11th June. According to an NSW Government statement, Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Rob Stokes, said: “The WasteShark can devour up to 160 kgs in one sitting – including plastics, vegetation, floating debris, chemicals, marine fuels and oils that shouldn’t be in our waterways. ” Placemaking NSW Chief Executive, Anita Mitchell, added: “It gathers air and water quality data, filters chemicals such as oil, arsenic, and heavy metals and scans the seabed to read its depth and contours.”
