An influencer with more than 200 pairs of sunglasses has told how he splashed out GBP 20,000 on a pair of platinum shades encrusted with diamonds.

Cosmin Cernica, 28, told Newsflash in an exclusive interview: “I am completely obsessed with sunglasses. I have a huge collection of over 200 pieces.

“I wear sunglasses every day, day and night. All my pictures on Instagram are with shades on and now I get them custom-made by Filiberto Nerone.

“He flies in from Italy and I spend GBP 20,000 on a pair made of platinum and diamonds.”

Cosmin lives between London and Dubai. He works as a social media consultant and creative director for a number of luxury lifestyle brands.

On his more than 200 pairs of shades, Cosmin told Newsflash: “I definitely love them all and I try to use them on rotation. It all depends on my mood and my outfit.

“Sometimes I’m in the mood for something very classy, black and simple.

“Sometimes I would go for something very extravagant and avant-garde, gold, diamonds and other precious stones.”

On the amount he has splashed out on his sunnies, Cosmin – who boasts 106,000 followers on Instagram – told Newsflash: “I can’t give you an exact figure but I think around GBP 60,000.

“Usually the average price for one pair is GBP 300 to GBP 400.”

But the influencer seemingly has no trouble stumping up the cash for his favourite accessories. He told Newsflash: “I normally charge GBP 800 per day for social media and marketing consultancy services.”

Of course, owning more than 200 pairs of shades requires a lot of space. Cosmin told Newsflash: “I kind of divided them between London and Dubai, where I live, and I try to have them as organised as possible.

“My housekeeper cleans them and polishes them every week and of course keeps them in order.

“It is sometimes very hard to find a specific pair, especially when I get ready for an event and I’m in a rush.

“I have a couple of pairs that I keep in a safe because of their price tag. I even travel with my safe box.”

On his most expensive pair, he said: “I recently discovered this very exclusive eyewear couturier, Filiberto, in Italy and I had him flown to London to design a bespoke pair for me made of solid gold, platinum, diamonds and emeralds.

“It took over two months to have them done but it was well worth it. It was around GBP 20,000 and their travel expenses for fittings but I absolutely love them and they are currently a staple in my ever growing eyewear collection.”

On his most trusty pair, Cosmin said: “I still have a pair of YSL sunglasses I bought back in 2009 in a vintage shop in Paris. You can never go wrong with a classic pair of shades.”

The influencer continued: “I think my other obsession is fragrances. I have probably over 300 bottles of those. I can’t stop buying them.”

On why he needs so many pairs of sunnies, Cosmin told Newsflash: “I guess look is, to a certain extent, important to every single individual.

“Obviously for me it is important because I am always out and about at social events. I always post content on my Instagram so image is something that I cannot neglect.

“I live between London and Dubai, two cities where your look is your business card.”
