Real Madrid superstar Sergio Ramos has said “time puts everyone in their place” when asked about Gareth Bale’s situation at the club.

The comments came during a press conference as the defender prepares with the Spanish national team for today’s (Friday) match against Malta in Cadiz located in the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain.

When asked about Welsh superstar Gareth Bale and his commitment to the club he said: “Anything I say can be a headline that is not good for the changing room.

“It is out of the players’ hands. Time puts everyone in their place. My joy is that he comes back and plays, the same for James (Rodriguez). We have no say in these situations.”

Bale, 30, has been under heavy criticism at Real Madrid after he agreed to play under Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs for the Welsh national team after suffering a calf injury in Wales’ 1-1 draw against Croatia.

The injury has kept him from playing for Real Madrid since 13th October.

The defender also spoke about the possibility of playing in Barcelona with Spain and said he thinks it is “not the best time” as political unrest remains in the region saying: “It is not the ideal time like we saw with El Clasico.

“I hope we can fix this as soon as possible and our country can have balance in every way. If we must go to Barcelona, why not?

“I am sure there are people there that want to see the national team play. Playing with Spain is something to be proud of, regardless of where you play.”

Real Madrid and Barcelona were set to play El Clasico on 26th October but the date was moved to 18th December after the Spanish Supreme Court sentenced nine Catalan separatist leaders to between nine and 13 years in prison.

Spain are playing Malta today (Friday) and Romania on Monday 18th November in the qualifiers for the 2020 EURO as they lead their group with 20 points.
