This is the ex-army sergeant who shot his pregnant wife dead in front of their young kids when the couple returned home after having a row in the car.

The incident occurred in the Kadirli district of Osmaniye province in Turkey as 42-year-old former specialised sergeant Ali Riza Cinkir was driving home from the hospital with his pregnant wife Sultan Cinkir, 30.

The couple were joined in the car by their children who have not been named but are 2 and 10 years old.

Ali and his wife are said to have begun arguing for unknown reasons in the car and when they got home the former sergeant reportedly pulled out a gun.

Ali, who had to retire from service early because he was suffering from depression, then shot his pregnant wife dead in front of their children, according to reports.

Neighbours are said to have the gunshot and run into the house to take the two terrified children away before Ali turned the gun on himself and opened fire.

Police and ambulances were called to the scene and paramedics declared Sultan dead at the scene while Ali was taken with vital signs to a local hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Neighbours looked after the children until their relatives came. The police investigation into the case is ongoing.

It is unclear why the family were travelling back from hospital.
