This is the shocking moment a 12-year-old schoolgirl is sent flying after being hit by a car while crossing a street with her friends.
Despite shocking injuries, she has now been allowed to go home after a three-week stay in hospital.
The youngster has been named as Duru Urkut, and the images show her being hit by the car allegedly driven by Ercan Mama, 37, in the district of Alasehir, located in Manisa Province, in Turkey’s Aegean region, on Friday, 18th March.
The footage, reportedly CCTV images from a local business at around 5pm, shows the young girl waiting with friends for a red car to pass by before they cross the road.
The young girl and her friends then proceed to cross the street, but she suddenly decides to run across faster than her friends and is hit by a grey car coming from the other direction at speed.
The grey vehicle, make and model unknown, slams on the brakes and comes to a stop further down the street. Locals and her friends can then be seen running down the street after her to render assistance as the footage ends.
The middle-school pupil was taken by ambulance to the Alasehir State Hospital, where her condition was described as serious.
She reportedly suffered fractures to her hip, a damaged liver, and injuries to her skull. She was taken to hospital unconscious, according to local media.
She was then transferred to the Manisa Celal Bayar University Hospital and she has reportedly now since been discharged after spending three weeks there receiving treatment.
This is after she reportedly spoke for the first time on Thursday, 7th April, much to the joy of her ambulance-driver dad, Halil Urkut, and her mother, Emine Urkut.
The police are investigating the incident and the driver was reportedly detained, although it is currently unclear if he has been charged with anything.
